I was first introduced to Reiki when a friend recommended it to me for chronic insomnia. Although I’d heard of it before, I was sceptical so I’d never tried it. After over a decade of sleepless nights, however, I was ready to try anything. I booked an appointment but a few days before, I developed a nasty stomach bug that was causing cramps and meant I couldn’t eat. I was worried that I wouldn’t make it through the session, but I decided to keep the appointment anyway and hope for the best. Because I was still a bit doubtful, I didn’t tell the therapist about my stomach issue or even the insomnia.
Much to my amazement, after just a 40-minute session, my stomach cramps had completely disappeared… and I decided to put it to the test with a curry later that evening. It passed with flying colours! It was so relaxing that I even drifted off at one point. As for the insomnia, that night I slept better than I had in years and the quality of my sleep has continued to improve ever since. This experience was enough to convince me to learn how to practice Reiki for myself and to share it with others.
